Happy Birthday Katty!

i have not been scrapping much of late as i have been too busy & i am missing it. Yesterday i had some fun shooting pictures of my cousins in their ballet tutus. Natalie wants to go to ballet school after her GCSE's & needed some done for her applications, but i also got some fun ones of her & her sister.

Last night i went to Nandos with Nic & then to see Click. It was quite funny, but also got really sad towards the end, i was holding back the tears! In my defence it was an emotional week last week.

i have been spending my hard earned cash this weekend. i bought The Fratellis album yesterday. i want to see them in concert, but they are all sold out! The Chronicals of Narnia & Lady & the Tramp DVD's arrived today (they've been on buy one get one free). i collect the Disney Collector editions & Special editions & have been wanting Narnia for ages so could not resist the offer. i will never be too old for Disney films. The Little Mermaid is my all time favourite & it gets released on platinum edition on Friday! i am soooo excited, disney have never released a platinum edition DVD before!

i went to see Starlight Express in Bornemouth last night & it was awesome. In the old stage version the actors would skate amongst the audience during the races, but because they are on tour they had to find another way of doing it. So i was forced to wear some 3D glasses to watch parts of the show, it was pretty smart.

p.s. it's one month till my birthday!

Finally!

i did this on Tuesday night for Shimelle's class. i started it on Monday night at a crop i attended in Waterlooville & also finished off the wedding album, will upload it soon. Got my dress for the wedding last night, now i've got to find shoes & a jacket to go with it. i'm off to dance my socks off tonight & hit the shops tomororw.

I spent the day yesterday in Brighton trying to find a dress to wear to my cousins wedding next month, with no luck. However, i did have a bit of a spend in Lush so i was a happy bunny. Check out their new xmas stuff. i'm lovin the Christmas Carol Bath Ballistic cos it makes me all sparkily!

We went to see Keane last night, who were brilliant!! They were so good, but the evening had a dampner put on it during the encor when some of the stage started to fall down and the band had to end the show early!! They managed to play 18 songs out of 20, but they didn't do Crystal Ball which is one of my all time favourites! So i've got an excuse to go and see them again now. i borrowed this photo from their website here. They were supported by Captain who were very Kewle & who i think will proabably make it big next year. You've probably already heard their single Glorious this summer. i am liking their album cover artwork.

Work was tough today. Not as many people got made redundant as we originally thought, but it was still horrible. I've been offered a job in a different sector of the company, which i didn't even apply for! It's a similar role to the one have been doing, & i start on the 6th. i wasn't very happy about it when they first told me, but i am coming round to the idea. i've had so may changes to my life this year i was just hoping for a bit of continuity, but hopefully things will work out for the best.

Thursday i went to see Children of Men. This is such a good film, it's hard going but the message is important. It really worries me what this world might come to.

Friday i really felt creative & wanted to start my project for Shimelle's class but couldn't get my photos to print off!

Saturday i went to the Happy Scrappers crop & got lots done! i started & almost finished a wedding album which i am making for my cousin, who is getting married next month. i also got 2 other pages done & did a bit of shopping. This is the first crop i've been to since finishing my Scrapaholics classes & moving back to Portsmouth, it was fun to be among other scrappers, who get what i am so obsessed about. I also went to my cousins hen night last night & it was great to be with all my family, haven't done that in such a long time! Another bonus of living at home again.













Today i went & supported my friend in the Great South Run for The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust. It was raining & windy but we had fun & she got a great running time!! She will probably kill me for posting this picture of her, but i will take the risk anyway. It is really hard shooting pictures of people running! Well done Katty!! x x x

Spent some much needed time with my niccy noo noo last night and i let her buy my birthday prezzies. It's over a month away but she has been nagging me for the past 3 weeks about what i wanted, she is way too organised! My Bacelona photos came today, i'm so pleased with them. i love my Canon! need to get scrap scrap scrapping!

Well the prompts have started & i still haven't created anything, have lots of ideas, just don't want to put them into form yet. Think i might do an art journal type thing instead of using pictures.

i made this on Saturday about my lil' trip to the Isle of Wight in August. Because life is about the good & the bad & scrapbooking should reflect that. i got my Scrap-room kit on Saturday & have so far made 3 pages which i'm soooo happy about as uusually i just hoard them.

Yesterday i went a bit crazy in Waterstones. i've just finished My best friends girl and i went a bit mad & bought Wicked because it's now a musical so i figured it must be good, The Devil Wears Prada because my friend Adam has been raving about it and it's a film so it's got to be good right?, The Righteous Men because the front cover had a quote from the Mirror saying 'The biggest challenger to Dan Brown's crown' and i like Dan Brown, & Left Bank because the front cover inspired me. Ain't it pretty?
I went through a stage this year where i wasn't into reading (because i read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and it nearly put me off reading for life - seriously don't read it!) but at the moment there are loads of book i want to read and usually i have loads of unread books on my shelf, but i didn't and i like to have a selection to choose from so i bought lots.

i buy most things from the net, or at least shop around for the best prices, but books, i like to buy them from proper book shops & i don't like having second hand books. Not because i'm snobby, but because i love the smell & feel of a new book, all shiny new with a 3 for 2 sticker on, no corners creased or pages warped from me reading in the bath. A new adventure.

You Think You Know Me?

Shimelle's prompts start today for the You Think You Know Me? class. We were set the challenge of posting a picture of ourselves with the workbook, so here it is - a rare picture of me smiling! The photo has whitewashed the workbook a bit, but i have actually doodled all over it. Looking forward to this!

Purple House of Happiness

This is my all time favourite picture that i took in Barcelona, just wanted to share because it makes me happy. i have received the workbook for Shimelle's class, & it's given me a lot to think about, can't wait for the prompts to start.

i've been having some wierd tingles & burning pains in my left arm since Sunday morning, but today it spread to my face so i phoned NHS direct & they said it might be the onset of shingles, so i've got to go to the docs tomorrow. eek!

Scraptherapy

Because i need a little bit of pink in my life, i have been having the most fun making this. i haven't used products like these for eons, like how out of style is netting?! ha, so i decided to use it, and i have jazzed up my lace with a lick of paint. Texture has been absent from my layouts of late. Now, i haven't been brave enough to ever really sand my photos, maybe a light sanding here & there, but never really distressed a photo, so i had a go at that too & i like the effect. i pulled out a load of embellishments, including a super cute chipboard piece from Urban Lily which is brand new & i took ages sanding it & whitewashing it to get it the right colour pink & then i went & stamped the butterfly & embossed it with glitter powder & it threw the whole layout off, so this is staying as it is & my chipboard piece will have to be saved for another time.

i have been getting much inspiration from my Designing with Colour Book. Usually i take the inspiration for the colour of my layout from the photo, but this book has taught me that it is ok not do that. So that's what i did with this page, i made it pink, because thats the colour that i associate with my sister.

i feel a lot of pressure to have the latest scrapbooking products, mostly because stuff can be so hard to get in the UK, i know if i don't get it NOW i might not ever see it again. & then i feel guilty for not using it straight away. i love the fact that i made this without using any trendy materials (ok except for the BG Gypsey paper) & i still really like it.

i am feeling much better after creating for a while, although i did manage to get a way from work early today & all hell might have broken loose while i was gone, so we shall see what tomorrow brings!

Have not blogged in ages, it's been a busy week. Portsmouth is full of freshers, they are everywhere! i was supposed to go out on the town last night but opted to stay in and watch X-Factor instead. i am loving the new Robin Hood on BBC1! Work is very stressful at the moment & i am not sleeping well so i just didn't have the energy to glam myself up. In response to my depression i have been eating lots of chocolate & spending money i don't have to make myself feel better. This week i bought The Desiging with Color Book (check out their blog). i love the DW series they are my all time favourite idea books, there are a few on my xmas list, but the ones i want seem to be in very short supply in the UK. grr. i am also desperate to get my hands on Elsies 52 Challenges book, i've asked for it for my birthday but that's a whole 6 weeks away! i also splashed out on some new BG Magnetic Buckles i think they are are way over priced but i wanted them for my album for Shim's class (still really excited about this). Yesterday i got wind of the uber cool Moo cards, so am busy uploading photos. So can't wait for these to arrive!

Had a busy weekend full of fun & laughter (+ too much food & drink) with my friends Adam & Amy. Adam came down to visit me from Colchester on Friday & then we travelled up to Guildford to visit Amy who is at Surry University. She has such cool halls! i want to be a student! Amy has been travelling to Australia since i saw her last and whilst looking through her photos i enquired about a bear type thing that she had a pic of. Turns out it's a tazmanian devil!! i had never realised that these things actually existed & were real animals! i think i might be the only person in the world not to have realised this, and i'm still amazed by it. We had a yummy fry up on Sunday after boogying the night away Saturday. Have missed these guys so much! It was nice to be in the company of fun people, i needed it after last week at work...

In other news, i have signed up for Shimelle's new class 'you think you know me'. i am sooo looking forward to this as i have been wanting to do one of her online classes for ages, but i always seem to miss out. i think i am going to do a mini book.
