Weekend Creative

This week has been busy-ish, with Cajun Dance Party on Wednesday, Ting Tings on Thursday. If there is one saving grace of the British Autumn/Winter it's the number of gigs that are going on. We are super lucky on the south coast to have so many great venues, that most of the major acts come around these parts at some point. i have lots and lots of gigs booked in the next few months.

It was Dvd night at Anna's Friday. Yesterday i scrapped with Michaela before going to she who must not been named's for some SATC action. Today was Love Albert Road day. I should probably explain that this is an annual festival held locally. Way crazy amounts of stuff going on. The Beatles Tribute Band rocked and the sun was out, but the crowds were a little too much for me to cope with on top of everything else thats going on in my head at the moment.

Made these for Ali's Weekend Creative last week. Constructing a page on a grid system works really well for me. You will probably have noticed that a lot of my pages are graphic/linear and i tend to build pages in blocks/with lots of bits of things, quite a lot. Almost like piecing a mosaic together. See here for examples. So this challenge was ideal for me. i have used grid designs previously on my pages and i'm sure it's something i will continually come back to. It's such a simple and easy way of putting a page together and a great way to use up scraps. Here's something similar i did a few months ago(yeah i'm really bad at sharing my pages on here - sorry!).

i recently got a copy of Ali's book Life Artist (finally!) and am totally taken in by it. i also plan to take part in her a week in the life at some point in the next few weeks. This week i am trying to collate photos for this (very very excited about it) and a few other projects i have in mind. i am quite behind on backing up and printing photos so i have a major task on my hands. i have recently uploaded quite a bit to my Flickr account, and added some new sets, which i plan to add some of my older photos to over time. i have been feeling really creative this last week or so and have been lugging my notbook around everywhere, using my time on the train and at lunch wisely. i have come up with sooooo many sketches and page ideas and done lots and lots of journalling. i just have to find the time to get all these pages and mini's done. But it's all good stuff.

A page from this weekend, just to prove that this blogging malarky works for me. It's great for referring to when i need journalling prompts. You may remember this post which prompted the page. It is all about the colour burgandy for me right now!

Note to self:

You are not worthless. Despite some people trying to make you feel like you are.

The mornings are pink...

i can see the street lamp from my bed when i wake, and it is on. When i step out of the house the sky is pink. By the time i've got to work, the moon is still in the sky. This has not been working for a night owl such as myself, but it's back to normal next week.

The leaves are turning. i know everyone else in the world seems totally hyped about autum or whatever, but i am dismayed! i already miss my flip flops... Although i love my hats and scarves, i do not like gloves, or tights or jumpers or the ridiculousy misery of British Winters. i managed to skip the last one entirely, but will have no such luck this year.

Still totally in love with my peter pan boots and this ochre colour. i want a pair of t-bar Mary Jane's in the ochre soooo bad. But as the girl who must not be named will contest (b/c i dragged her around every shoe store in town) i can not find them anywhere, even on the internet!! i think it's the first time the worldwide web has ever let me down! i may have to settle for a pair in silver or grey, which really wouldn't be so bad.

It was be there or be square on Saturday. Of course we were there, i had been looking forward to it for weeks. The day truly rocked. Good music + some of my favourite bars and the best company. The sun even made an appearance for most of the day!! Some local bands i discovered and mucho liked:

The Daisy Riots
Hold Fast
Fresh Legs

Finally, finally not caring where Wally is. Seriously. It is such a relief!

i love finding random graffiti.

i watched a film with she who must not be named called once. i really don't think she digged it (but then she is not a film geek like i). However, i thought it was one of the most beautiful films i have ever seen. At first i was thinking 'where the feck is this film going? It's totally random!' And then the music. Magical. The performances of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova were flawless and i found the whole film enchanting.

A few old friends are drifting back into my life again this weekend. But planning a day full of films and scrappies on saturday. i have finally got out of my funk and just want to get messy and make stuff all day long.

Oh and it's my Annabananna's birthday today, i hope she has the special day she deserves. i don't know what i would do without her in my life. i looooooooove you!

On the daily...

So it's been back to the daily grind this week, with a twist!

Monday i returned to work to mysterious messages greeting me back (hello Alexa, drunken Pirate!) e-mails from Gareth about witchy and SCM (same clothes man - yes it's gross) and not quite able to remember all of my passwords.

Wednesday was the best day of the week, or possibly century, because i saw the Train Man for the first time in months. Although i also had to say goodbye to some of the best work colleagues ever.

Yep my job role has changed yet again, and i've moved offices for the 3rd time in 5 months! So far it's going great, although i miss the banter with Gareth, Vic and Bridge , but instead of getting lovely presents (Capri Sun's from Chris, Hot Chocolate from Peter) and notes left on my desk i now get happy mail and e-mails.

The train journey's aren't so long, which i'm not sure is a good thing (i use the time for reading and listening to La Pod) and the station isn't within walking distance to the depot, which is a pain. But once i've saved enough pennies for a car, it'll be much easier.

Good times ahead, i'm sure.

We have seen lots of old things...

Last week we stayed with my sister + tom in Bournemouth. i even got to spend an hour with my other sister. It has been too long. i do not get to see her enough, but life is too complicated to overcome that.

We spent some time in Poole, Christchurch, Lulworth Cove and saw Lulworth Castle. It has been fun, there really is a lot to do here in the south, but i have to say i'm a little tired of all the old stuff now. Whilst i have loved taking pictures & just not being at work, i am a girl who needs the odd solitary day to just get creative, watch films and stay in my pj's. So i'm taking today to do that while Dianne takes a trip to Oxford.

At the weekend we went to some old dudes house and found this little pixie house in the grounds. So cute! We also picniced at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, went to the cultural festival down at the seafront and the castle was open for free.

i will endeavour to upload all photos to Flicker when i get the chance.
i have not had much time to listen to la Pod much in the past week or so, and it is leaving a massive gaping void in my life. However, when i do get the chance, these are the current favourites filling my ear space:

Jeremy Larson
Noah & the Whale
Late of the Pier
Biffy Clyro (ok so they are always one of my fav's, but they have NEW stuff out!)

i'm on the last book of the Twilight series. i'm quite sad my little vampire world is coming to an end & i'm not overly happy with the direction the book is taking at the moment, but i'm only half way through so there's a chance to redeem itself yet! Not quite sure what i'm going to do for reading when i'm done. And i have definately developed Obsessive Cullen Disorder.

Oh and you should go see Step-brothers if you want a good laugh!
