Summer, where are you going?

Last week was full of going to the cinema & eating out. i've been busy busy & it's starting to catch up with me, i am sooo tired!

i had a totally random day on Saturday, where we stumbled upon a street food market, hid from a boy and stalked a pug puppy (ok it was just me doing the stalking). But i managed to get a sewing box & bag. i've been looking for the perfect one for a while now, & these were on sale too! i feel much better now things are organised. i love red + polka dots!

Also picked up some lovely vintage papers & patterns.

Annnd i finally got my Jackie Magazine (actually i have two copies, one for keeps and one for ripping up and sticking down). This has made me very happy, there has been much giggling over this & i am totally wishing i had lived in the 70's.

i've been getting my nails painted (thanks Shen).

Reading Sookie (totally hooked).

And Art journalling. i've really enjoyed this class & it's been lovely to make a little bit of art each day, it's been totally manageable and very theraputic.

Have a magical week!

Banksy

We took a little day trip up to Bristol yesterday to see the Banksy Vs Bristol Museum Exhibition.

We had to queue for a an hour and half!!

But it was so awesome. + i was really surprised & delighted that we were actually allowed to take pictures in there (no flash).

There was a few rooms dedicated to just him, everything was credited to a 'local artist'.

But there was also some of his work integrated into the rest of the museum.

It was fun! & refreshing to see someone being so bold.

Life is crazy busy right now, but i'll try and come back with a proper update & some crafty goodness soon :)

Moustaches

On Saturday i watched a documentary on Annie Leibovitz & was left inspired for the whole weekend. You will probably know her photographs even if you've never heard of her.

i am in full Harry Potter mode. i've re-read #6, re-watched films 4 & 5 and all the behind the scenes/premier programmes that have been on tv. i am SO excited for the film on Wednesday. i'm preparing myself for it to be scary.

Saturday night was birthday celebrations for Benguin, the theme was moustaches & aviators. There was a definate lack of effort on the moustaches, just a few half-hearted attemps from the boys to grow their own but i must salute Andy for his laughter inducing wig. i made my own moustache on a stick, totally stealing the idea from these guys.

i've been painting, sewing & even scrapbooking (!), but i'm not ready to share yet. However, Ms. Kara's class has started so i will show you my journal & first page.

i hope your week is sunshiney!

The episode in which it not only rains but pours.

So after a very difficult few weeks, things got worse. i had to go to the emergency room on Sunday & was put on a drip. WHICH FREAKED ME OUT! i got diagnosed with Gastroenteritis which is very sucky, let me assure you. i am on antibiotics for a week and was told to rest for a few days, but i went back to work today. i have never been so ill in my life! But now feeling much better and so grateful for my mum, she really got me through the whole experience. Nothing can touch a mothers love.

This is me today. Rocking the pigtails (the only way to survive this unusually muggy heat we've been having surely?). And i am stepping in the direction of being myself again. Hurrah!

Looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It is sure to be a visual delight! i just want to cover my walls with Black & White Alice in Wonderland images right now.

Wishing i had a copy of the latest Special Edition of Jackie.

Looking forward to this class.

Planning summer adventures.

Oh and i watched Into the Wild the other day, it's almost as beautiful as the book.

Canada Journal

This morning on my way to work i had my ipod on shuffle (i do this once in a while to remind myself of some of the gems on there that i tend to forget about) and Julie Fowlis' version of Blackbird came on. So it was going to be a good day.

i finally got the last few picture printed for my Canada journal today & finished it up tonight!

Let me tell you a little bit about the evoloution of this journal. It was a bit of an experiment to see if i could actually commit to the project while i was travelling & i have to say i was pleased with my efforts, i even printed a lot of photos while i was away. All there was left to do when i got home was add a few more photos, a bit of journalling, some stitching & the binding (i sooo want to do a course in book-binding someday).

i decided on my colour theme & chose all the papers before i left, made my cover, & added a few odd bits to a few of the pages, like ring reinforcers. i also journalled my first page to document my thoughts anticipating the trip. i collected lots of stuff while i was on my trip & strangely (& very fortunately) nearly everything matched my colour scheme! i am a hoarder by nature & always collect brochures/tickets/maps etc while i am travelling, i just never usually do anything with them. The only things i took with me were scissors, adheisive, masking tape & two pens. i knew i did'nt want embellishments in there as it would just bulk it out, so i kept things very simple.

i am really pleased with how this turned out! & i plan to work on similar projects for future trips. This is the way forward! i think it's a great way to incorporate 'stuff' from your trip & capture your exerience in the moment. It is no work of art, it isn't pretty, it has pages sticking out of the edges and my untidy handwriting all over it, but it is a true refelction of my experience and that is all that matters to me when i look through it. You can see the completed album here. i am loving Kim's Travel Journal Class (even though i can only stop by every few days)& wishing i could take another trip NOW!

In other crafty news i am still in mini book mode & am itching to get back to my Favourite Things album. Themed mini's seem to be the way to go for me at the moment. Elise did a lovely post on mini's this week, she is surely the queen of the mini book, go take a look!

Last night we went to Bournemouth to surprise my sister in celebration of her 2:1 in Marketing. The look on her face when we showed up was priceless! We are so proud of her & all the hard work she has put in!!

Lately i am itching to buy non-fiction books, craving poutine, missing Benguin, feeling like i WILL heal some day, very thirsty all the time, loving all songs with a revenge theme, have sunglasses permanently stuck to my head & looking forward to what summer will bring.

i have lots planned for tomorrow including lunch at our favourite local spot with my family, a wardrobe reshuffle & giving my car a make-over!!

Happy Canada Day!

i'm kind of wishing i kept hold of my *extremely cheesy* maple leaf rain mac. i could so start a new trend here in the UK...
