Scrapbook Shares on Sunday

Oh hello!

i hope you have had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday was my mum's birthday and i surprised her with a pampering session for 2! So we spent the morning be exfoliated, massaged, having a facial & a manicure. It was lovely. In the evening we went out for Thai & it was delicious.

Now onto my scrapbook shares for this Sunday...

2009 was a pretty sucky year for me so i thought it should be noted. Looking forward to brighter and better things in 2010.

The idea for this layout has been in my journal for a while now & i've only just got around to scrapping it. i am a huge Beatles fan, but Ringo is my favourite. Mostly because he is never anyone's favourite but also because he seems the most fun out of the group. The patterned papers & vintage fabric are from the Half Caf kit, which i've nearly used all of now!

Have a great week!

Happy Accident

This page has been in the works for over a month now. This usually isn't my scrapping method. i just like to get the story told and be done with it, i don't fret too much over placement of things or worrying that i don't have the perfect product. But lately i've tried a different tact of starting off a page & if i'm not happy, coming back to it a few days letter with a fresh look & it seems to be working out well for me. With this one i started off with the paint splats and had to wait for that to dry. i had the photo and paper ready cut to stick down but then i ran out of adheisive. That was around Christmas! So now i am stocked up on herma i started to stick everything down, but after adding the brad and the gems there was still something missing. She Who Must Not Be Named recently bought me some Hambly back from the US (it is SO hard to find here!) and i knew the Camera rub-ons would work well with this page. But then i was trying to figure out the placement of the large camera and it got stuck to the page, so there it had to stay! Then i needed to balance out the layout so i cut out another rub-on and it got stuck again! i managed to scrape some of it off but lost some of the rub-on in the process so i ended up cutting it up and placed it next to the photo. i'm actually pretty pleased with how it looks. i love happy accidents!

Tomorrow is Mum's birthday & i have a fun surprise for her, i am so excited! Then we are out for Thai in the evening. My favourite! i hope you enjoy your weekend whatever you are up to!

Scrapbook Shares on Sunday

i am really bad at sharing my scrapbook pages. i made loads last year which went straight into my albums without being shared with the online community. So in order to try and share my work with you more often i am introducing a weekly feature on the blog called 'Scrapbook Shares on Sunday'. Which basically does what it says it will. And you are going to have to hold me to it!

For New Years Eve this year we saw The Bog Rolling Stones & The Silver Beatles, & dressed up 60's style. i wish i could dress like a 60's housewife allll the time! The 60's is my favourite decade & i really wish i had been around to see it! i am fascinated with the music, fashion & decor of the era. On Friday i took a trip up to London with some friends to see the Beatles to Bowie Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Photo's from the 60's inspire me so!

For lunch we ate at Ed's Diner, their milkshakes are the best!
As you can see, this weekend i have been playing with the mist's i was talking about, i am getting a tad obsessed, they look so pretty! Because i don't like to embellish my pages too much it is fun to find something extra to add.

Happy Birthday Miss!

i just wanted to say happy birthday to this lovely girl!

Here's what i made for her present (it's ok she's already seen it). The pattern is from Kitschy Digitals and the fabric is Basic Grey.

And her card.

The Cupcake is a printable from Kitschy Digitals and the cupcake paper is from the Love,Elsie line. It's embossed card so i just sanded it a bit to highlight the cupcakes.

Create it green sketch up

Hi Folks!

i just wanted to let you know that this month's sketch is up at the Create It Green blog. For those of you who have never visited it before, the idea of the blog is to encourage people to use green & recycled items on their crafting projects. There is a design team for cards, scrapbook layouts & altered items. And i am on the layout team! Here is my interpretation of this month's sketch.

This month i used corrugated packaging and i punched circles from an old cork placemat, which i turned into buttons.

And here's a close up of the journalling. Koalas are not as cuddly as they look, they have gigantic claws!

While i was travelling in Australia i was fortunate enough to see lots of the native wildlife in zoo's, parks and in the wild! i also held a wombat and a baby alligator!

Banksy Mini Album

Last summer i took a little trip to Bristol with some friends to see the Banksy Exhibition. We had to queue for a really long time, but i was delighted to discover that we were allowed to take pictures inside! This is a rareity for museums/art gallery's.

Anyway, i decided to gather said photos in a little album. It's not my usual style. i experimented with spray paint and i didn't include much journalling (it's realllly hard for me not to journal!) & i cut some of the photos up (which was a little bit scary). i really just wanted to record the photos. And i think it all fits together quite well, plus it was fun to play! For some reason Blogger is being totally lame and won't publish the rest of my photos in landscape, but you can see the whole album here.

i just got some Glimmer Mist's which i am really excited to use. i have been holding off buying these for a while as they are a bit pricey (approx £5.75 a bottle!) and i knew once i started using them i'd want every single colour available. But Papermaze, one of my favourite UK online shops has got 20% off everything this month so i thought i'd give them a go. i did a little test and they exceed my expectations, the colours are so pretty. If anyone has any tips on how to use them, i'd love to know. And which colours you use the most often, as i really am going to have to limit the number i allow myself to buy!

i've got the day off work tomorrow to go on another art trip, so excited!

Hello Blogland,

i miss you. i should probably explain, for those of you who don't know, that i work for a road maintenance company. And that i am currently working insane 12 hour shifts through the night supervising the gritting that's going on. We got yet more snow last night, so things don't look like they are going to ease up any time soon. However, i have many crafty posts planned for when things get back to normality. i'll be back as soon as i can!

Happy 101

i was surprised & delighted to discover that Kel gave me the Happy 101 award!! i am so thrilled, it made my day!

This award is for all the ladies in the blogging community that bring a smile to your face. So...along with this award I am to list 10 things that make me HAPPY and pass the award on to 10 ladies that make me smile.

1. Polka Dots. Especially red + white. Especially Cath Kidston. i want to start collecting polka dot mugs in all different colours, shapes & sizes! (When i have my own place). There's also a red & white polka dot apron i've been lusting after for some time now (to match my sewing bags).

2. The Mighty Boosh. i just started re-watching my dvd's. Gotta love those Boosh boys, so crazy funny. Does anyone have beeter hair then Vince Noir?

3.Woodgrain. i thought this was going to be a passing trend but i've been in love with woodgrain patterns for quite some time now & don't think i'll ever stop.

4. My hot water bottle. It's cuuuute & it keeps me warm on these cold wintry nights!

5. My instax. Here are a few photos i've taken with it.

6. Biffy Clyro. i have loved these boys long time but Only Revolutions is one of my fav albums from 09 & it's on constant repeat. Can't wait to see them live again in May!

7. My new Beatles mug that Annabananna gave me for Christmas (especially when it's filled with hot chocolate).

8. Hambly. She Who Must Not Be Named just bought me some back from her trip to the States (it is really hard to get here) and it is making me excited to scrapbook again!

9. Pretty white trees. i know all the snow means having to drive super slow, that it's realllly cold & for me it means having to work horrible 12 hour shifts through the nights to make sure the salting runs smoothly, but the trees are oh so pretty!

10. My iPhone. i can't imagine life without it, for reals. And it has a pretty woodgrain case! i'm going to have a little spend up on apps when i get paid this week. If you have any that you LOVE (especially for photos) please let me know!

i love making 'favourite things' & happy lists, it's so fun to look back on, in time. They make great subjects for layouts & mini books too!

Ok, so now to pass the award on to other blogging ladies. Don't forget to link me up if you post your 10 happy things!

Snowmania!

i was snowed in today, the motorway i use to get to work was closed off - eek! And there doesn't appear to be any signs of the bad weather easing off. Luckily i made it home while it was just starting to snow last night. Mumsey & i were freaking out at the size of the snowflakes falling, they were about 4cm wide and coming down fast! We lived in Canada for a few years when i was younger and Mum said she hasn't seen anything like it. Considering it's pretty rare for us to get any snow this far south of England, it's all been rather exciting & magical despite the chaos it's been causing. There's a Roman Castle just down the street from where i live so we went down to take snow pictures. Unfortunately the snow kept producing spots on my lens, grr!

i kept wishing Mr Tumnus had been waiting under this for me. i think the trees look so pretty!

i posted something over at Greate-it-green today, so please check it out!

Tips for the Top 2010

You know i loves my music, so i wanted to share some bands/artists that will most likely be the soundtrack of my 2010 & i predict some will be topping the charts too.

Owl City
. When i first heard the song Fireflies, i thought it was a band. Nope, it's just this fella and his music is magical!

Plan-B. He's already collaborated with Chase & Status & Pendulum have re-mixed him too. Just skip plan A & move straight on to Plan B.

Fan Death. If you're a fan of New Young Pony Club, you'll love these Canadian girlies.

The Kissaway Trail. i wouldn't mind following any one of the Danish quintet's kissaway trail if they were willing to play me their beautiful music!

Bombay Bicyle Club have been pedling their way to success for a while now, but i think this will be their year!

We were lucky enough to catch Eliza Doolittle live at a local festival in 2008 & she was quite lovely (my boy friends especially thought so).

The Drums make me feel all summery - just what i need with this cold spell.

Also listen out for: Exlovers, Delphic, Dinosaur Pile Up, Two Door Cinema Club, The Sound of Guns, Little Comets, & Stornoway.

Have you got any music recommendations? i'd love to hear them!

Happy New Year everyone! i hope this year brings good things to you all. i'm not one for new years resolutions, i am constantly making goals & to-do lists throughout the year anyways. And of course i have my 30 before 30 to focus on.

Here's a little something i stitched while i was off work, pattern by Elsie. A mini me! Ha! i've been wanting to embroider this pattern for well over a year now. i've got a few stitching projects in the works at the moment and a long list of things i want to crochet. The photos were edited using the ShakeItPhoto iPhone app.
